It was a late Sunday afternoon in the middle of March when I travelled up to Stansted airport and checked into a hotel nearby. I wasn’t flying anywhere, but so excited, as I was attending one of John Denton’s training courses for the following 2 days. I got to meet everyone in the bar that evening and knew then that we were going to have a fantastic 2 days – what a lovely group of people!
The course was held at Detheo Photography’s fabulous barn studio near Bishop’s Stortford and the rustic environment provided us with plenty of interesting locations. Both John and Alice are so down to earth and easy going and that makes everyone else feel comfortable straight away, which in turn makes for a good learning environment. We learnt so much and had great fun working through different looks and lighting scenarios with John. Alice, our stunning model, was great to work with and nothing was too much trouble for her. Those 2 days were bitterly cold and whilst all of us (except for John, who clearly doesn’t feel the cold & wore shorts! ) were wrapped up warm, Alice was a real trooper in the cold weather. The wind was freezing when we took the photos of Alice in the lace and tulle dress, but she didn’t even show that she was cold!
A big thank you to John for a fab course, to super-woman Alice – you were amazing, and to Maria for hosting us at her studio. I loved every minute of it! x
